Commentary: Reflective Portfolio Math 130-131 Spring 2004
This is my favorite portfolio assignment I’ve given in an introductory course. It’s for the first two semesters of the Math for Teachers sequence (some students will be taking a third semester, some not). It’s very structured so students understood the expectations well, yet they had a lot of choice in how to shape it themselves. I also like that thinking about the future is part of the assignment; we need to reinforce for all students, but especially for future teachers, that leaning is a lifelong process, not something that ends when the semester is over. 7/05
