Commentary: Exploring Linear, Exponential, and Quadratic Functions

 

            This is a very long handout that I wrote for a summer institute on algebraic thinking for K-8 teachers, that I did with Pat Willott and Galina Dobrynina.  I had forgotten about it, before I went through my files for this site.  It is a very long handout, designed to be kind of a text for the institute, although I know I completed it very near the end.  It discusses various representations of the three types of functions, beginning with a Stadium Problem that we’d explored together.  I also wrote a quick guide, which addresses the same topics; this handout is the not at all quick guide…  8/05
