Commentary: Project Ideas Problem Solving Seminar Fall 2003

 

            These projects focus on modular arithmetic (including with Pascal’s Triangle), fractals, chaos, geometry, and discrete math.  Students did some very nice work.  One of my students ended up doing a research project on a variation of the last problem on the list, which she continued past the semester.  She gave a talk on the problem at the Regional Mathematics Association of America conference.  8/05
