Commentary: TA Seminar Syllabus

 

            The supervision seminar has made a huge difference in our undergraduate TA program (link).  One of my main goals for the seminar is to help the students make the shift from, “How can I explain this without confusing people,” to, “How can I understand what the students are thinking and make choices based on that understanding?”  Another main goal is simply to have them spend more time thinking and talking about mathematics.  I think the syllabus was fine; I won’t change it much next time. 7/05
